Water Power and the Industrial Revolution

The energy of a moving stream of water was the first source of power to be harnessed by man. This program demonstrates water power using wheels, shafts, gearing and other ingenious devices for corn milling, textile manufacture, wood working and the pumping of water. Visits water wheels in Britain to show the range of designs used during the Industrial Revolution up to the early 1900s. Presented by Denis Smith.
